Jantar Mantar, Jaipur

With the assortment of nineteen astronomical instruments, the very eminent Jantar Mantar is a monument in Jaipur, Rajasthan (one out of the series of five; also built in New Delhi, Ujjain, Varanasi and Mathura) whose idea was put together by the Rajput King, Sawai Jai Singh in the year 1734. It is an architecture in the service of science.

The words Jantar Mantar literally mean ‘calculating instrument’, it structures the largest stone sundial of the world which is erected from resident stone and marble.
